Barbour plays Bernstein at Crestview
I enjoyed playing a program on Saturday May 19 for the Crestview Presbyterian Women featuring pieces forming a musical tribute to Leonard Bernstein. Held in the Crestview Sanctuary I was able to feature the Allen R-380 Digital Organ as a Classical Pipe Organ-a Symphonic Organ and a Theatre Organ. Also, I used the Kawai Grand Piano and the Classic Hammond B-3. The event was a great afternoon with a great variety of music.
WESTSIDE STORY: Tonite, I Feel Pretty, America, Maria,
Cool (played on Hammond B-3), Somewhere (Allen R-380 Symphonic Voicings)
Game: “Bern-SWINE” on Br-HOG-way. Rodney plays broadway songs-audience names the tune in “pig-speak”. Songs played were: “The HOGS are alive with the SOWS of Music”; “Phant-HAM of the SLOP-era”; “OINK-lahoma”; “Some-En-cHAM-ted” Evening from SOWS Pacific; “NewPORK, NewPORK, CHIC-HOG-go. The audience was happy and so was I! It was a delight to get to play the Allen, the Kawai and the Hammond and share these instruments via Bernstein’s music!
