REMEMBERING OPENING DAY 2024 at Kathy’s Happy Organs
I should first explain the photo: Here I am following the program, autographing a ladies “knocker” (get your mind out of the gutter, its a “noisemaker for the stadium”)! There were around 100 “Fans”, having a “ball” Sunday April 7 at Kathy’s Happy Organ’s Center Court, Northgate Mall. Everyone knows a ballplayer’s favorite genre of music is “SWING” music, so there was a lot of that plus maybe a mixture of fifty plus other songs to take the audience to the ballgame, and show off the Lowrey Sterling Organ. There were charges, claps, inning by inning scenarios, games and jokes. By the end, all organists had a good idea some of the actions it takes to play a major league ball game, plus a grand tour of the incredible variety of sounds on the Lowrey Sterling. AND, I had lots of fun reaching back twenty-five years (I was Reds Organist from 1987-1999) and recalling songs and routines I haven’t played in a while! Thank you Kathy Swartz for all you do to bring music, fun and “life!” into the community at large and to your customers and friends!
