Ascension Parish in Kettering, Ohio has been celebrating the thirty year anniversary of their sanctuary.  Following their morning worship and a community gathering and meal, I enjoyed the opportunity to play their newly installed Rodgers 589 Three Manual Organ to conclude the celebration.  The organ sounded full and powerful with speakers in both front and back.  I chose a program to demonstrate traditional pipe sounds as well as orchestral sounds and a combination of the two.  Here’s the program and which sounds were featured:

LANGLAIS Hymne d’Actions de graces “TE DEUM”
(Choral Aahs, Full French Organ, Solo Reed, Mutations, Montres)
POST Introduction and Hymn:  HOLY, HOLY, HOLY
(Full Organ, Foundations, Reed, Flutes, Strings)
TOMLIN WE FALL DOWN
(Fantasia, Guitar, Voices, Chime, Orchestra Strings, Orchestral Oboe)
CLOKEY Bell Prelude
(String Celestes, Principal, Foundations, Chime, Full Organ)
HANDEL Fireworks Music
(Principal Chorus with Mixtures, Reeds and Percussion, Oboe, Strings, Organ Flutes,
                                 Orchestral Strings, Harpsichord)
BACH Fantasie and Fugue in C Minor
(Baroque Prinzipals, Krummhorn, Prinzipals and Mixtures)
JONCAS ON EAGLE’S WINGS
(Orchestral Strings, Orchestral Bells, Choral Aahs, Chimes)
MEYERBEER Coronation March
(Full Organ, Solo Cornet, Full String Ensemble)
CLOKEY Cantabile:  ST PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE
(Orchestral Strings, English Horn, Choral Aahs, Chimes, Organ Strings, Orchestral
                                Bells)
MENDELSSOHN Sonata III—-Con Moto Maestoso
(Full Reed Chorus, Foundations, Pedal Reeds)

Following the well attended program, Cheri and I managed to find a PF CHANGS for a delicious dish of noodles.  All this after “NOODLING” around on the Rodgers 589 all afternoon!
