CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY CONCERT at Mount Pleasant!
HERE I AM—ALL LIT UP! for ANOTHER visit to the 4 Manual Allen Millenium Organ at Mt. Pleasant Community, Monroe, Ohio.
Similar to the repeat concerts at Hurricane, this is a community and organ I’ve been blessed to visit several times (I think this program is either nine or ten–I’ve lost count!). I always have a great time with these folks and they are great supporters. I was told this evening was the largest audience they’ve gathered for a concert since pre-covid. The room was FULL, and folks readily engaged by singing the carols, being attentive to scriptures and commentary, and even laughing at my terrible puns and jokes.
We began with several carols and arrangements celebrating the presence of “Immanuel-God with Us”(!) and then I detoured, hiding behind the organ for a “costume change” into my festive jacket with flashing Holiday Lights, for a Sleigh Ride, a visit from a puppy in the “Yellow Snow”, Carol of the Bells with various tuned percussions, and a Parade of the Wooden Soldiers to lead us into a final “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.
Thank you Mt. Pleasant Residents Committee, for a great venue, a great audience, and a great organ to play!
