IRONTON COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS–11-11-2023

I enjoyed playing a Veterans Day concert for the Ironton Council for the Arts on the pipe organ at First Presbyterian Church, Ironton, Ohio. The “challenge” for me was a program with the variety of color that I like to show, played on an organ with no combination action! I considered many factors before I agreed to perform, and decided if the European Organists play those tracker organs, pulling the stops on by hand, then I can do it in Ironton. I chose Buxtehude, Vivaldi, St.Saens, Albinoni, Bull, plus several hymn preludes and a couple of fun pieces. I added conversation about the “art of the organ” and the mechanics so the audience could get a better sense of what to listen for! A good time was enjoyed by all–with WONDERFUL treats prepared for a closing reception!
