Returning to John Wesley UMC
It’s always a joy to be asked to return to a congregation that you’ve served. I was Director of Music at John Wesley UMC for 8 years, and while I’ve played for Memorial Services, this is the first time I’ve returned for a full concert–this a benefit program for Veterans. The program included a “God and Country” section of appropriate hymns and as well the 5 service songs. Some light classics added some depth and favorite hymns including the Methodist National Anthem “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling” rounded out the program, with some “spring and summer pops” thrown in at no extra charge. I loved returning to the twenty year old Rodgers 940 Organ with PR300s Midi Sound Module which I put to good use! One of the Choir members told me “you made that sound like a full symphonic orchestra”! While I politely replied thank you, inside I was silently saying: “Your durn TOOTING I did!”. Thanks to Carol Walters from JWUMC for the invitation and the opportunity to see many friends again!
