THIRD MOUNT PLEASANT CONCERT 5-30-2019

Thursday May 30, I returned to Ohio Living Mount Pleasant Chapel for my third concert in three years, playing the Four Manual Allen Millenium Edition Organ.  The program was varied mixing light classical, sacred and secular selections and featured lots of audience participation including singing, clapping and a pickin’ and grinning joke/pun segment!  Some of the musical highlights included:  Fletcher’s Festival Toccata, Karg-Elert’s O God Thou Faithful God, Purvis’ Petite Clocks, and a transcription of Dvorak’s Largo from the New World Symphony.  The Allen Millenium Edition still sounds wonderful after all these years.  It has fantastic variety of flutes, and a marvelous string section!  The organ is well-voiced for this room and can be played full without “over-blowing” the room.

The capacity audience responded enthusiastically to the program and I received an e-mail from the program director with these comments:

  • Wonderful
  • We want him back
  • It was a great night of entertainment and learning.
  • I really liked the variety in the program.
  • The classical mixed with the sacred and decular spoke to everyone.
  • I didn’t know the organ could do all of this.
  • The capacity crowd left with smiles on their faces.
  • I can’t think of anything else that draws this crowd for our venue!

Thanks so much for all that you do to make so many people appreciate this wonderful organ and to leave so thankful that they were here!

Much thanks to the Shorrs for delightful treats following and to Elaine Wilson for taking a few pictures of the evening!
